She Lies Down, Whilst He Lies Up

Lying is an unfortunate fact of life. It is one thing that does not discriminate. Both males and females do it and if you disagree with what I’m saying… You’re clearly in DENIAL and possibly LYING! 
Generally, in conversations women will lie about things such as their age and weight (this becomes more evident in the ‘older’ woman). Whereas men will lie about their height, job position, how much they earn etc. However there seems to be a common ground where ‘the numbers of sexual partners’ are concerned. I tend to find that both genders frequently lie about how many sexual partners they have had. I’m sure many of you will agree with my observation.
It seems on all these dimensions, women generally lie downwards and men generally lie upwards. Women will pretend that they are younger than they actually are, they will pretend that they are fewer pounds (or even stones) lighter than they actually are and they will also pretend that they have had fewer sexual partners than they actually have. In contrast, men will pretend that they are taller than they actually are (although sometimes this lie can be an epic failure especially when he claims to be taller than you but is clearly below eye level), they pretend to be in higher positioned, better paid jobs than they actually are and unsurprisingly they tend to EXAGGERATE the number of sexual partners they have had *to boost their ego I guess*.
I’m sure everyone is guilty of either lying up or down (and many of you *like myself* may also have been a victim of these lies). Feel free to share any experiences… be them funny or sad, direct or indirect, true or false… I would still love to hear ‘em!
Also, why do you think people feel the need to lie about such things? Truthfulness seems to be a crime these days. But why?

Very interesting post.i think it all tones down to insecurity.most guyz r pretty much aware of the most common qualities u galz look out for in guyz .This involves height,money,appearance,position,security.so guyz tend to fake their originality in order to suit the character galz want.however,u galz r also a flip side reflection of the same menance.In as much as i believe most guyz lie to satisfy their ego ,it is u galz who r promoting us not to be who we really r.

Lol @ Fiona. Good Question, Well As Of Now; None *As Far As I Can Remember*. Never Really Had A Reason To Lie About Anything, I Pretty Content With Myself, My Life And Lifestyle. But I Guess This Could Be A Lie Too…That’s The Thing With Lies Apart From God Who Knows? Just Gotta Take Ones Word At Face Value!
Well I agree with the female lying down but the men lying up? hmmm, to an extent. Most guys i know say exactly how many times they have had sex and with how many people, no lies just straight up truth.
truthfulness is a crime these days because people are afraid of the trust and some have come so used to lying that they forget how to tell the trust. the most interesting, funny but yet truthful part is the part both male and female lie not just lie but super lie about the amount of people they’ve slept with. for example who as been with 30 guys in life would say she’s only been with 5 guys if your lucky, where as a guys who as been with 5 girls will say 30 girls. this it because the girl doesn’t what to look or sound like she’s a hoe and the guy wants to sound like his all that…….the world we live in as made lying part of it culture so in a lying as come a good thing…………………………………………………..NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
